ANZAC Day in Maleny, Sunshine Coast Hinterland

Anzac Day

25th April is nearly here … Anzac Day in Maleny.  The service and parade on this day are a credit to the organizers within the local sub branch of the RSL.

Dawn service is very well attended on the banks of the Obi Obi creek with 5 people deep in most parts.  Returned service men & women, The 5th Light Horse Regiment Maleny Troop, Navy cadets, Maleny State Primary and Secondary schools are heavily involved to mark this very special sombre service.

After the service everyone is welcome into the RSL for a gunfire breakfast, which is very well received.  The talking and laughing from within is a pleasure to listen to. So many returned service men & women catching up, enjoying the comradery while downing a couple of rum & milks – to keep warm.  We all know it’s a day for everyone to reflect on past events that have formed us as a Nation.  How lucky we are to live in this beautiful land we call home.

After all the catch ups and new friendships made over breakfast wander up the main street.  Grab a good viewing spot for the parade being led by The 5th Light Horse Regiment Troop Maleny.  Our proud diggers, school children, sporting groups the list is endless.  It is a magnificent sight to witness.

We are very happy to accommodate you at Bendles bed and breakfast Cottages Tuesday night so you can experience this very memorable day with our small but very proactive community.
